Choristers
Zlatka Sarmadzhieva
SopranoI was born in Plovdiv. By profession, I’m a dentist — but at heart, I’m a mother, a singer, a painter, occasionally a bit of a tease to my loved ones… basically, a full-on showman!
As a student, I sang for 10 years in the “Detska Kitka” choir.
It didn’t take much — I heard about the youth choir from one of the singers and… bam! I found myself again!
Eleftheria Pilali
AltoMy name is Eleftheria. I was born in Athens, but I have lived in Bulgaria since I was little. I am a law student, combining my studies with work, an internship, and the development of my own online store for Italian makeup and cosmetics (essentially.bg). In my free time, I create content — photos and videos. I love creating artistic makeup looks, decorating my home, traveling, and spending peaceful time in nature, without a plan or direction. An interesting fact about me is that despite all the years in which I’ve tried many different hobbies (drawing, piano, pop and jazz singing, choir singing, sports and folk dancing), I still feel nervous singing alone in front of people. And although it might not seem that way (because of my Leo rising), I am actually quite shy when meeting new people.
For me, singing in a choir is energy — an energy that fills me even after the busiest day. The sense of togetherness and the charge I get from singing in such a group cannot be compared to any other hobby I’ve had. I have been singing since the 6th grade — first in the “Detska Kitka” choir for about 9 years, and after a break of around two years without singing, I started again with “oTEPETO.” During those two years, without exaggeration, I felt empty, without direction, and I relied heavily on other people to bring me the energy that only the choir had ever given me — which did not affect me or my loved ones well. Now, I feel whole again.
Bozhidara Batanova
SopranoI was born and raised in Plovdiv. Currently I’m a student at Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, majoring in Linguistics with English and Korean. In my free time I enjoy reading Dickens and the Brontë sisters in the original or drawing, mostly black-and-white graphics. I’m a huge coffee lover, and one of my more unusual skills is creating balloon figures.
I feel lucky to have discovered choral singing at the age of nine, when I joined the “Detska Kitka” choir. It not only deepened my understanding and appreciation of music, but also gave me lifelong friendships and introduced me to incredible professionals. Being part of the Plovdiv Youth Choir “oTEPETO” has reignited the thrill of preparing for performances and brought me together with new kindred spirits who share my love for singing and with whom it’s always a joy to spend time. 🙂
